Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Google Cloud Architect to design, build, and enhance secure, scalable, and highly available cloud environments on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This is a hands-on architecture role focused on building enterprise GCP foundations, including landing zones, networking, IAM, security controls, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), resiliency, and cloud operations.
The ideal candidate will combine strong GCP architecture expertise with hands-on engineering skills and will work closely with security, platform, application, and data teams to establish cloud standards and reusable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise-scale GCP landing zones, including organization structure, folders, projects, resource hierarchy, billing, quotas, naming standards, and governance.
- Architect secure GCP networking solutions using VPC/Shared VPC, Cloud NAT, Cloud DNS, Load Balancing, Private Service Connect, VPN, and Interconnect.
- Establish network segmentation, firewall policies, secure ingress/egress patterns, and service perimeter controls using VPC Service Controls.
- Design and manage enterprise IAM and security frameworks, including least-privilege access, custom roles, service accounts, Workload Identity Federation, Secret Manager, and Organization Policies.
- Build reusable cloud infrastructure and project templates using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
- Develop and integrate CI/CD pipelines for automated infrastructure provisioning, application deployments, security scanning, and environment promotion.
- Architect highly available and fault-tolerant solutions across multiple zones and regions using GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud Run, and other GCP services.
- Define disaster recovery, backup, failover, RTO/RPO, and business continuity strategies for critical workloads.
- Establish monitoring and observability standards using Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, OpenTelemetry, tracing, dashboards, SLOs/SLIs, and alerting.
- Conduct architecture reviews, security assessments, threat modeling, and cloud cost/performance optimization.
- Create reference architectures, technical documentation, architecture decision records (ADRs), operational runbooks, and cloud engineering standards.
- Collaborate with Security and DevOps teams to support continuous compliance with frameworks such as CIS, NIST, and SOC 2.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams on GCP architecture and cloud-native best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions on public cloud platforms, including 3+ years of hands-on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience.
- Strong expertise with GCP services across networking, compute, storage, security, IAM, and cloud operations.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing GCP landing zones and enterprise cloud foundations.
- Strong GCP networking knowledge, including VPC, Shared VPC, Cloud NAT, DNS, Load Balancing, Private Service Connect, VPN, and firewall policies.
- Deep understanding of IAM, Organization Policies, service accounts, Workload Identity, secrets management, and least-privilege security models.
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and reusable Infrastructure as Code modules.
- Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Experience designing highly available, multi-zone/multi-region architectures and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, distributed tracing, alerting, SLOs/SLIs, and operational observability.
- Experience with Git and scripting/programming using Python, Go, or Bash.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead architecture discussions and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
