Contract Senior Java API Developer
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Java API Developer to design and develop Java-based APIs for actuarial tools. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building APIs that integrate with SQL Server and MongoDB. An analytical or actuarial background with insurance industry knowledge is preferred. Experience with Mescius is a plus.
In this role, you will design, document, review, and maintain software components for complex projects. You will work closely with business stakeholders to identify requirements, develop technology solutions, improve operational efficiency, and deliver tactical solutions within tight timelines. You will be involved in the full application development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment and ongoing user support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications and APIs.
- Create APIs that integrate with SQL Server and MongoDB data sources.
- Identify and resolve performance issues related to large data volumes in MongoDB and SQL Server.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
- Collaborate with business partners and project teams on moderate to complex initiatives.
- Develop test plans, execute module and integration testing, and resolve defects.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Participate in design and code reviews, ensuring adherence to development standards and quality requirements.
- Communicate technical designs effectively using Mural.
- Analyze complex problems, recommend solutions, and implement preventive measures.
- Make informed technical decisions using experience, judgment, and available information.
- Mentor and support less experienced team members.
- Present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Identify, clarify, and resolve complex issues within the application environment.
