Contract Data Engineer – IBM DataStage
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced IBM DataStage ETL Developer to design, develop, and support scalable ETL solutions and enterprise data pipelines for critical applications.
The role involves working closely with business and technology teams to build reliable and high-performance data integration solutions. The candidate should have strong experience integrating data from multiple source and target systems, including Oracle, DB2, Snowflake, flat files, cloud storage, and structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
Strong expertise in IBM DataStage, Snowflake, Unix/Linux Shell Scripting, and PL/SQL is required. The role will focus on developing scalable data pipelines, optimizing data processing, supporting data warehouse, data lake, and Lakehouse environments, and enabling analytics and reporting solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataStage 11.7+, including Parallel Jobs, Sequencers, Parameter Sets, job monitoring, administration, and performance tuning.
- Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills with strong experience in Oracle and DB2.
- Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting complex ETL/ELT solutions using DataStage.
- Experience developing reusable ETL frameworks, parameterized jobs, metadata-driven solutions, and automated data processing workflows.
- Ability to translate business and technical requirements into scalable ETL and data integration solutions.
- Experience with data extraction, transformation, validation, cleansing, reconciliation, and loading using DataStage.
- Experience integrating Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Snowflake, flat files, XML, JSON, Parquet, and cloud storage using DataStage.
- Strong Snowflake experience, including Streams and Tasks, Dynamic Tables, Internal and External Stages, Secure Views, Data Sharing, and query performance optimization.
- Experience developing cloud-native data pipelines and migrating data from on-premises systems to Snowflake.
- Strong Unix/Linux Shell Scripting skills for automation, file handling, batch scheduling, production support, and troubleshooting.
- Experience developing high-performance batch, incremental, and CDC-based pipelines for large-volume data processing.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT architecture, Data Warehousing, Dimensional Modeling, Data Lakes, and Data Lakehouse architectures.
- Experience with performance tuning, root cause analysis, production support, and incident management.
- Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
