Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise mainframe applications for a financial services client. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and related mainframe technologies, along with a solid understanding of systems analysis, application design, and software development methodologies.

The candidate will be responsible for developing scalable and reliable mainframe solutions, troubleshooting application issues, optimizing system performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications based on business and technical requirements.
• Participate in requirements gathering, technical discussions, and application design sessions.
• Develop and implement solutions that integrate effectively with existing enterprise applications and systems.
• Analyze application architecture and identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Perform unit testing and integration testing, and support QA teams during system testing and deployment activities.
• Monitor application performance, identify system issues, and troubleshoot production defects.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions to resolve application and processing issues.
• Maintain technical documentation, including application specifications, design documents, and support procedures.
• Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, QA teams, and developers across onsite and offshore locations.
• Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and project reviews.
• Stay updated with evolving mainframe technologies, development practices, and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in Mainframe Application Development and Support.
• Strong working knowledge of several of the following mainframe technologies:
• COBOL
• JCL (Job Control Language)
• CICS
• DB2
• SQL
• IBM MQ
• Xpeditor
• Endevor or similar source code management tools
• Strong experience in systems analysis, application design, and software development.
• Understanding of software architecture, design principles, and enterprise application integration.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
• Ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Experience with application testing, debugging, performance optimization, and production support.
• Strong understanding of business impact and the ability to prioritize issues based on urgency.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a distributed development team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with enterprise-scale applications in the banking or financial services domain.
• Exposure to business-critical transaction processing and batch processing systems.
• Experience supporting application modernization, system integration, and performance optimization initiatives.
